2013 is set to be the year in which multiscreen becomes a reality. While 2011 and 2012 saw ACCESS primarily focus on providing the tools to prepare the market for multiscreen, next year will see us major on helping operators, CE device manufacturers and content owners deliver on their multiscreen business plans with commercial deployments.
A key aim for 2013 is to deliver ‘connected confidence’, through for example our ‘studio confident’ solutions that provide the extra security that means studios are happy for content to be shared throughout the home. We will continue to ensure that our media-sharing and TV-centric HTML5 solutions are the best on the market, making operators confident that user experience is uniform and effective on all screens. And all of these goals will be underpinned by exciting new innovations in multiscreen media-sharing, HTML5 and OTT/social TV platforms.
This year ACCESS delivered ‘studio-confident’ media sharing to the market through the integration of its award-winning DLNA technology with conditional access solutions to provide an even higher level of security. We will further develop studio-confident media-sharing in 2013, to support the acceleration of content sharing across all device types.
2013 will see ACCESS’ HTML5 solutions enable exciting new user experiences; our DLNA solutions and Media Pilot applications will provide consumers with advanced media-sharing, and operators will increasingly combine these solutions to make multiscreen and ‘TV anywhere’ a reality. We will be powering a next-generation set-top-box for one of the world’s largest cable operators, and NetFront™ Browser NX will be deployed on the new Nintendo Wii U™ game console, an important demonstration of ACCESS’ delivery of ‘consumer’ confident solutions.
2013 will be a real step-change year for ACCESS in social TV, with further developments to its ACCESSMyTV multiscreen social TV platform which will go live in Germany. There will be enhancements to its social network integration and deeper integration with ACCESS’ HTML5 browser. All of these developments are aimed at giving consumers an even more seamless and ‘socially confident’ user experience.
