ACCESS and INNOPIA enable streaming of 4K and HDR video throughout the home

The ACCESS and INNOPIA joint solution supports the latest industry requirements, including support for 4K, HEVC and High Dynamic Range (HDR) for video delivery over home Wi-Fi networks.

Oberhausen, Germany, 13 October 2016 − ACCESS CO., LTD and INNOPIA Technologies, Inc. today announced that their partnership empowers consumers to easily stream 4K and HDR video content throughout the home through the integration of ACCESS’ Chromium-based NetFront™ Browser BE with INNOPIA’s IMT-M630 4K HDR HDMI stick.

ACCESS and INNOPIA Technologies held demonstrations at IBC 2016, which showcased the platform hardware capabilities leveraging Chromium technology to show impressive 4K video playback including ‘YouTube on TV’. At the core of the integration lies the IMT-M630 4K HDR stick produced by INNOPIA Technologies, which offers:

  • Optimized memory with DRAM 1GB and NAND 512MB based on Linux OS
  • 4K@60fps HEVC decoding in the smallest form factor over Wi-Fi 802.11ac 2T2R network
  • Support for the HDR10 standard for vivid and accurate colour resolution

Talking about the partnership, Dr. Neale Foster, COO and VP Global Sales at ACCESS Europe, commented: “Multiscreen continues to improve the consumer experience. With better quality devices entering the mix, operators face a new challenge when offering higher quality and more user-friendly services without compromise. Our collaboration with INNOPIA Technologies ensures that operators can evolve in line with consumer demand for 4K and HDR content as their portfolio grows.”

“The HDMI stick market is highly competitive as consumers wish to access their content services and libraries on all screens in the home, which is why it is crucial to offer the best media experience at all times. By partnering with ACCESS, we have a solution that enables operators to provide consumers with an effective way to watch the programmes they want and in the best possible quality, including 4K and HDR, and use Wi-Fi to distribute that high quality experience throughout the home,” concluded Manho Jang, CEO, INNOPIA Technologies.

The IMT-M630 4K HDR stick leverages a solution within ACCESS’ NetFront Browser family, which has been shipped in over 1.5 billion devices worldwide, ranging from set-top boxes and smart TVs, to smartphones and tablets, game consoles, e-Readers and connected cars. ACCESS can provide its partners with a choice of the WebKit-based NetFront™ Browser NX and the Chromium-based NetFront™ Browser BE enabling the right browser for the target platform to be selected. ACCESS browser solutions provide support for services such as YouTube on TV, UK Freeview Play and HbbTV 2.0, alongside innovative extensions such as process-based plugins and support for customer provided media player technologies.
