IBC 2017: ACCESS shows multiscreen for 100 million consumers
On-stand demos feature ACCESS Twine™ and the NetFront™ Browser family, which are used by a wide range of providers like Reliance Jio Infocomm
Oberhausen, Germany, 2 August 2017 − ACCESS CO., LTD today announced that it will showcase its product portfolio, which currently powers multiscreen services for over 100 million consumers, at IBC 2017 (14 – 19 September 2017, Amsterdam RAI, stand #14.D14).
Traditionally, consumer demand for multiple content catalogues has forced viewers to subscribe to many services, which leads to scattered eyeballs. However, in the face of increased competition from OTT pure players, pay-TV operators need to increase stickiness to their services. Offering a high quality content catalogue is no longer enough; operators now need solutions that combine their offering with access to personal content across multiple devices. At IBC 2017, ACCESS will show operators how deploying a simplified service that enables access to all content sources at once through a single application can enhance their offering.
“The idea that a multiscreen service should only deliver an operator’s own branded content is outdated,” said Dr Neale Foster, Managing Director and COO at ACCESS Europe. “Today’s consumers have an abundance of content available at their fingertips, but they have to navigate numerous apps in order to access it. Through the work we have done with large operators such as Reliance Jio Infocomm, we will show visitors to our IBC stand the benefits of aggregating multiple content sources and delivering them via a single application.’’
ACCESS on-stand demonstrations at IBC 2017 include:
- ACCESS Twine™ for media distribution in multiscreen environments enables operators to ensure that consumers stay within their branded environment for all their media needs. ACCESS Twine™ also facilitates remote access & aggregated search functionalities and supports secure media distribution across all platforms. ACCESS Twine™ notably powers Reliance Jio Infocomm’s multiscreen service for 100 million consumers across India.
- NetFront™ Browser family, enabling a seamless HTML5 powered experience across all screens – from smartphones and tablets through to the next generation TV screens. ACCESS’ solutions include WebKit-based NetFront™ Browser NX and Chromium-based NetFront™ Browser BE, both available as HbbTV editions. The NetFront™ Browser family has been deployed in over 1.5 billion devices.
- Making its debut at the show, NetFront™ Browser BE Software Development Kit v2.4 will show operators how to use standards to deliver best in class services up to 4K and 8K. NetFront Browser BE v2.4 provides support for HbbTV 2.0.1, ARIB STD-B62/TR-B39 (2nd generation digital broadcasting) for 4K and 8K, Freeview Play 2017 and YouTube on TV 2017.
On Sunday, September 17 at 15:30 – 16:15, Dr. Fleming Lampi, Global Product Director at ACCESS will also be taking part in a panel discussion entitled “Service design considerations for the multi-screen OTT world” in the Content Everywhere Hub (Hall #14.J10). Attendees to the panel discussion will be able to learn about the various elements to take into account when developing a multiscreen-friendly user experience and learn how to choose the right content protection solutions for their online video services.
