Zenterio Selects ACCESS to Deliver the A to Z of Multiscreen Solutions
The integration of ACCESS’ NetFront™ Living Connect Technology Component and NetFront™ Browser NX with Zenterio’s operating system delivers UI-friendly media sharing experiences across all connected devices
Oberhausen, Germany, 10 September 2013 − ACCESS CO., LTD a global provider of advanced software technologies to the mobile, beyond-PC and digital TV markets today announced that it is integrating its technology with Zenterio, the independent operating system developer for TV client devices. Zenterio has chosen to extend its solution with ACCESS’ DLNA Technology Component™ solution, NetFront™ Living Connect, and ACCESS’ TV-centric NetFront™ Browser NX 3.0 to deliver enriched media sharing experiences.
“Our collaboration with ACCESS allows us to create a winning multiscreen strategy that enables operators to enhance their service offering and better monetize their assets by making content available on more devices,” said Marco Frattolin, Head of Product Management, Zenterio. “As well as forming the basis of a profitable business model, it also means we can equip operators with superior, lean-forward streaming experiences and faster, optimized HTML5 user experience that will ultimately build customer loyalty.”
ACCESS’ solutions enables Zenterio to deliver true multiscreen and multi-room features that provide seamless, sharing of protected, premium content including LiveTV streams and DVR content via managed set-top-boxes or unmanaged connected devices such as laptops, iPads and smartphones. ACCESS’ solutions can be integrated with operator CA systems for additional features such as enhanced reporting and ‘studio confident’ content protection.
ACCESS’ NetFront Browser NX supports advanced HTML5 functionality enabling it to demonstrate best in class performance and ‘must-have’ features for the next generation user experience including transitions, animations and 3D graphics through support for Canvas, CSS 3D Transforms and WebGL.
With the Zenterio OS, operators can quickly and cost-effectively provide new interactive services and applications. Key features of the Zenterio OS include:
- True independence for the operator - with Zenterio OS, operators are free to focus on service development as an independent business driver, rather than staying locked in by their current ecosystem’s limitations.
- Improved performance - the modular capability of Zenterio has an extremely strong reputation in providing world class performing software. This focus on performance has always been at the core of each new generation of the Zenterio OS, enabling the operator to make the most out of the hardware they deploy.
- Faster implementation of new services – Zenterio OS enables faster and more cost efficient implementation of new interactive services and applications.
- Replacement of existing software - Zenterio OS can be deployed not only on new set-top boxes, but also to the base of boxes already in use by the operator’s customers. Zenterio can, through a unique offering called ‘swap-out’, remotely replace proprietary operating systems that are already in use.
“This integration is the latest example of the already successful business relationship between ACCESS and Zenterio,” said Dr Neale Foster, VP Global Sales, IA, ACCESS. “With this integration, Zenterio can leverage ACCESS’ innovative media sharing and HTML5 solutions to offer TV operators an easy-to-deploy route to the perfect mix of TV and Web experiences.”
The joint integration of the NetFront Living Connect Technology Component and the NetFront Browser NX WebKit-based HMTL5 browser enables device manufacturers and TV operators to quickly and efficiently implement services that support DLNA standards in a HTML5 optimized intuitive user interface (UI) across all consumer electronic devices in connected home environments as it adheres to DLNA Premium Video guidelines. The solution’s high portability and flexible modularity allow it to function with any OS or CPU in embedded devices while also providing for easy customization. Supported devices include mobile phones, digital cameras, printers, DVD players, game consoles, digital TVs, set-top boxes, network attached storage (NAS) boxes and more.
